

SSEMWG Graduate Student Travel Grants
Twice a year, the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women and Gender (SSWEMWG.org) provides conference travel support for up to 5 graduate students to present their work at national or international conferences. Travel costs up to $500 a person will be supported.
Travel grant applications, including full conference and paper acceptance details should be directed to Amy Froide, SSEMWG Vice President at froide@umbc.edu by September 1, 2026
(for conferences through January 10, 2027. We will have a second deadline in December for Spring and Summer conferences).
How to apply: Please provide the following information with your expression of interest:
- Email from a faculty member or graduate advisor verifying your status in a graduate program;
- Conference paper details (title, panel, etc.);
- Confirmation of conference paper acceptance/invitation;
- Conference details (including date & location);
- Budget details, including other sources of received or potential funding (and amounts);
- Whether you have previously received an SSEMWG travel grant and, if so, when.
Criteria:
- Member of SSEMWG (student membership is $20, please click here for membership applications/renewals);
- Graduate student in good standing;
- Presentation on a topic pertinent to SSEMWG’s mission.
