The editor of French Review, Edward Ousselin, has asked Cathy Yandell to write an « État présent » for French 16th-century studies.
Several colleagues will review criticism in the following areas : George Hoffmann on Montaigne, David LaGuardia on prose (mémoires, registres journaux, nouvelles…), Kathleen Long on the literature of the Wars of Religion, Todd Reeser on Rabelais, François Rouget on Ronsard, and Colette Winn on women writers. Cathy Yandell will write an introductory section on thematic and methodological trends in the field.
The État présent will concentrate on critical works produced by scholars working in North America and published during the past five years. If you are the author or editor of a book on 16th-century French literature or culture (published in that time frame), you are invited to send the necessary bibliographic information. Any ideas you have about what should be included in terms of themes and methodology would also be most welcome.
Please send all information to Cathy Yandell at cyandell@carleton.edu by 15 June, and she will make sure that the works are included in the bibliography.
