college lectureship in French: early modern specialism

St Hilda?s College invites applications for a fixed-term eight-hour Stipendiary Lecturership in French, from 1 January 2012 until 30 June 2012. The teaching required will include literature tutorials and translation classes (French to English) for all year groups. In addition the appointee will be expected to set and mark college examinations, to participate in the routine administration of the undergraduate degree in Medieval and Modern Languages (MML), and to assist with pastoral care of undergraduates reading the subject by serving as personal tutor. She or he may also act as college advisor to graduate students in MML and related fields at St Hilda?s.
Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a good first degree, and should be working for, or have already obtained, a doctorate in French specialising in the Early Modern period (1530-1800). Some teaching experience is essential. The salary for the post is « 10,723 – »12,068, depending on qualifications and experience, and membership of the USS pension scheme is offered.
