The Italian Association of Women Historians (SIS) and the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) will hold a two-day workshop during which advanced doctoral students will present their projects concerning the history of gender relations and gender identity, including in an intersectional perspective. The meeting aims to create a lively debate on themes, approaches, and questions that emerge from new research.
The following thematic fields will be given priority:
– Medicalization, care and control of the body
– Families/patrimonies
– Labour
– Literature and the press
– Political and social movements
– Sexualities
– Violence
The workshop is intended for Ph.D. students who have completed their first year of doctoral studies but have yet to defend their dissertation. It will take place in Pisa at the Scuola Normale Superiore on June 3-4.
Interested candidates should submit their proposal no later than February 29, 2024 by filling out the following form:
The proposal should include:
• Name, surname, institutional affiliation, and email address
• Dissertation title
• An abstract of no more than 200 words, either in English or in Italian
• A curriculum vitae (max 200 words)
The SIS and the SNS will select proposals that match closely the preferred thematic fields and will cover the accommodation costs and meals during the workshop. Participants will need to pay for their travel.
Applicants whose project has been accepted will be notified via email by March 29, 2024.
