SSEMWG Lifetime Achievement Awards

It’s time once again to open the annual nomination period for SSEMWG Lifetime Achievement Awards. We look forward to honoring outstanding scholars who have dedicated their professional lives to advancing aspects of the Society’s mission.  A list of previous recipients can be found here: https://www.ssemwg.org/lifetime-achievement-awards

Here are the criteria for the award (please note that these criteria have been updated this year):

Each nomination will be evaluated holistically, and the following are provided as guidelines rather than strict requirements. But in general, nominees will be individuals who:

• have made sustained and substantial contributions to the field of premodern women’s or gender studies over a long-term career
• have supported or mentored women/transgender colleagues and/or students
• are current or former members of SSEMWG or, prior to its formation, participated in activities related to its mission

Furthermore:

• Group or multiple nominations will often strengthen the case for a candidate.
• Two, or in exceptional circumstances three, awards will be presented annually.

Please send nominations of no more than one page in length to me (mmdowd1@ua.edu) by November 1. Awardees will be announced shortly after the deadline, followed by a celebration at the annual virtual membership meeting in the spring.
