Entry by Aurore Evain, 2003
Of low birth, daughter of Dédiet le Vairier, Mme de Latour, aged eighteen, interpreted the role of Catherine of Siena in the play dedicated to the saint and staged at Metz in 1468. Catherine de Baudoiche, who commissioned and organised this performance, chose a young girl for the part of the saint at a time when female roles were more usually played by young boys. Mme de Latour's interpretation was praised and remarked upon by witnesses. Henri de Latour, a gentleman from Metz who was present in the audience, married the young actress who thus became the first actress to use the theatrical stage and her artistic talents to cross class barriers.

Reception
