Les mod\u00e8les pour penser cette diff\u00e9rence proviennent essentiellement de deux anthropologies oppos\u00e9es\u00a0: celle de Descartes et celle de Cureau de la Chambre. Leurs sciences de l\u2019\u00eatre humain examinent tout d\u2019abord les interactions entre corps et esprit, mais elles mettent surtout en valeur les pens\u00e9es propres du corps par le biais de l\u2019imagination. C\u2019est \u00e0 m\u00eame le corps que se d\u00e9cide si femmes et hommes sont \u00e9gaux. Les lectures critiques de ces deux mod\u00e8les propos\u00e9es d\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9 par Malebranche et de l\u2019autre par Poulain de la Barre confirment que le xviie si\u00e8cle constitue un tournant dans l\u2019analyse psycho-physiologique et morale.
