<\/span>The first Dance Symposium at New College took place on 21 April 1999 with Dance on the English Stage, and has become a yearly event. Each symposium is designed to explore different aspects of dance, with particular reference to its musical, theatrical, literary and social context during the long eighteenth-century.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>“Living, dancing, travelling, dying: dancers’ lives in the long 18th century”,<\/span>16 & 17 April 2013<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/span>The 15th Oxford Dance Symposium will take as its subject dancers’ lives in all aspects. We invite proposals for papers on areas such as new biographical facts, new looks at old biography, the inter-relationship of dancers’ daily lives with their work, dancers’ portraiture, dancers and the popular press, dancers and fashion, dancers and the law.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>We seek papers of 20 minutes, with abstracts of approximately 200 words.<\/span><\/span>Powerpoint presentations are welcome.<\/span><\/div>\n
