Il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;\u00e9tudier la mise en r\u00e9cit ou en image de l&#8217;Histoire et des grandes figures historiques. Nous voulons rendre compte des variations dans la mani\u00e8re dont la m\u00e9moire collective, la post\u00e9rit\u00e9 (restreinte ici aux oeuvres litt\u00e9raires et artistiques), se construit, se modifie et int\u00e8gre sans cesse de nouvelles figures. Nous voulons voir enfin comment ces figures sont d\u00e9sign\u00e9es et reconnues dans les Lettres et les Arts et peuvent jouer un r\u00f4le dans la conscience des groupes sociaux.<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Les Grandes Figures Historiques dans les lettres et les arts publiera des articles (2 num\u00e9ros par an environ)<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>The Great Historical Figures in Art and Literature Project is inspired by the researches on perspectivism in history that have been put to the fore in the domain of ?cultural memories&#8217;. The project aims at showing how great historical figures appear in literature and in various arts (sculpture, painting, music, cinema, tapestries etc.). We wish to focus on how the images associated with these figures and their prominence have varied through time and how their role in the building of a collective memory has been liable to many changes. The Great Historical Figures in Art and Literature will publish articles on a regular basis (about twice a year)<\/em><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><\/em><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><\/em><em><\/em><strong>Th\u00e8mes possibles (la liste n&#8217;est pas exhaustive) \/ Possible Themes (a non-exhaustive list)<\/strong><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Des hommes illustres aux dictionnaires biographiques du XIXe si\u00e8cle : fonction et repr\u00e9sentation de la figure historique \/ From the illustrious men and women as a genre to biographical dictionaries : function and representation of a historical figure: Nous nous int\u00e9ressons tout particuli\u00e8rement aux ouvrages d&#8217;\u00e9loges, aux \u00e9crits r\u00e9pondant au genre des hommes et des femmes illustres, aux dictionnaires biographiques du XIXe si\u00e8cle dont La Biographie ancienne et moderne, oeuvre monumentale qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9dit\u00e9e en France en 1811, n&#8217;est qu&#8217;un exemple. Le comit\u00e9 se r\u00e9unira courant septembre.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Nous voulons offrir un outil de connaissance et de r\u00e9flexion au plus grand nombre et aider les acteurs locaux dans leur politique de valorisation patrimoniale (iconographie, pi\u00e8ces d&#8217;art). En effet, les dictionnaires des noms propres contemporains existants sont \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard tr\u00e8s insuffisants pour d\u00e9coder la signification que prennent ces noms dans les Lettres et les Arts ainsi que les \u00e9volutions s\u00e9mantiques et symboliques auxquelles ces r\u00e9f\u00e9rences sont soumises, puisque les ouvrages sur le march\u00e9 s&#8217;arr\u00eatent le plus souvent aux simples donn\u00e9es factuelles et ignorent le travail de mythification ou de transformation qui peut \u00eatre op\u00e9r\u00e9 dans les oeuvres litt\u00e9raires ou dans les arts (cin\u00e9ma, musique, peinture etc.). Ces figures ne sont pas neutres mais impliquent un positionnement au sein d&#8217;une tradition qu&#8217;il convient de d\u00e9finir et de retracer.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"corpsTexte\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Nous pensons enfin que le contexte scientifique contemporain rend la question de la grande figure historique particuli\u00e8rement r\u00e9v\u00e9latrice des transformations esth\u00e9tiques et id\u00e9ologiques les plus r\u00e9centes. En effet, la notion m\u00eame de personnage historique, vecteur d&#8217;une action, est interrog\u00e9e tant par l&#8217;historiographie contemporaine que par le romanesque contemporain qui cherche \u00e0 d\u00e9busquer toute forme d&#8217;\u00ab intentional fallacy \u00bb, \u00e0 rejeter \u00e0 l&#8217;instar des r\u00e9cits historiques la veine biographique ainsi que l&#8217;id\u00e9e m\u00eame d&#8217;acteur. En outre, nous assistons \u00e0 la remise en cause des fonctions traditionnelles de l&#8217;Histoire et des lettres et des arts, \u00e0 savoir l&#8217;\u00e9loge et le bl\u00e2me. Alors que le lib\u00e9ralisme du XIXe si\u00e8cle a beaucoup oeuvr\u00e9 pour proposer des grands mod\u00e8les la\u00efques \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et pour v\u00e9hiculer l&#8217;image des grands acteurs de l&#8217;histoire, la pens\u00e9e postmoderne d\u00e9nonce des modes de repr\u00e9sentations ressentis comme peu d\u00e9mocratiques. A first list of historical figures may be established from the various biographical dictionaries, from the genre of the ?illustrious men and women&#8217;, from the works of praise and eulogies. The XIXth c. La Biographie ancienne et moderne can be considered as a model since it refers both to historical and to fictional works. The articles will answer both to academic and public concerns. Whereas contemporary biographical dictionaries only stress factual details, the project aims at helping the general reader in the decipherment and the interpretation of historical allusions. The ideological context makes the identification all the more difficult since contemporary history writings and contemporary novels denounce the \u00ab intentional fallacy \u00bb. The promotion, by the liberals, of lay models during the XIXth C has been rejected by postmodernism as undemocratic. Hence, despite the vogue of historical bestsellers, the use of traditional figures and of traditional models has become more and more obscure and needs to be explained.
