C&rsquo;est &agrave; sa rencontre qu&rsquo;invite cette anthologie, en commen&ccedil;ant par les premi&egrave;res grandes autrices fran&ccedil;aises connues: la reine Marguerite de Navarre, la po&eacute;tesse lyonnaise Louise Lab&eacute; et l&rsquo;animatrice d&rsquo;un c&eacute;l&egrave;bre salon poitevin, Catherine Des Roches.Leurs &oelig;uvres nous entra&icirc;nent dans l&rsquo;&eacute;tonnant th&eacute;&acirc;tre du XVIe si&egrave;cle, alors en pleine effervescence et mutation. La s&oelig;ur de Fran&ccedil;oisIer se lan&ccedil;a la premi&egrave;re sur ce terrain traditionnellement si masculin; sensible aux id&eacute;es de la R&eacute;forme, favorable &agrave; la libert&eacute; de conscience, elle composa des pi&egrave;ces aussi originales qu&rsquo;audacieuses. La savante Louise Lab&eacute; s&rsquo;inscrivit pour sa part dans le d&eacute;bat des humanistes sur le th&eacute;&acirc;tre antique, les genres italiens &laquo;modernes&raquo; et les philosophies dans l&rsquo;air du temps; son impertinente com&eacute;die-d&eacute;bat devait avoir une longue post&eacute;rit&eacute;. Catherine Des Roches, enfin, s&rsquo;exprima dans la pastorale, la tragi-com&eacute;die, les dialogues dramatiques&hellip; Illustrant la richesse et la vari&eacute;t&eacute; du th&eacute;&acirc;tre qui pr&eacute;c&egrave;de celui de &laquo;l&rsquo;&acirc;ge classique&raquo;, ces trois pionni&egrave;res se rejoignaient en outre dans leur volont&eacute; de faire entendre la voix des femmes. Ce n&rsquo;est pas le moindre des int&eacute;r&ecirc;ts qu&rsquo;on trouve aujourd&rsquo;hui &agrave; les lire &ndash;ou &agrave; les jouer.A. Evain est com&eacute;dienne et pr&eacute;pare une th&egrave;se sur les autrices de th&eacute;&acirc;tre de l&rsquo;Ancien R&eacute;gime; P. Gethner, professeur &agrave; Oklahoma University, a publi&eacute; la premi&egrave;re anthologie consacr&eacute;e aux femmes dramaturges de cette &eacute;poque; H.
