Generic Experimentation in Seventeenth-Century Women’s Writing
Vancouver (1er-3 juin 2019), avant le 15 décembre 2018

The following call for papers is for a panel being proposed for the annual conference of the Canadian Society for Renaissance Studies / la Société canadienne d’études de la Renaissance (CSRS/SCÉR) to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from June 1 to 3, 2019.  Proposals from Canadian as well as international scholars are welcome.

This panel solicits abstracts for papers which look at generic experimentation in seventeenth-century women’s writing, in the British Isles and/or in France.  Papers which examine the role of a woman writer (or writers) involved in the emergence and development of a specific genre (or genres) are especially welcome.  To what extent could women writers pursuing these experiments be seen to be more central to early modern culture and to literary history than has been previously acknowledged?  Please send abstracts of no more than 300 words to Victoria Burke at vburke@uottawa.ca by December 15, 2018.
