Each year, several hundred Swiss people go abroad in an exchange year to participate in a research project or continue their studies at a Canadian institution. On April 29, 2009, Canada announced royal approval of legislation transposing the free trade agreement signed with the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The agreement provides tariff concessions for processed agricultural products. Tariff concessions for certain agricultural commodities are covered by bilateral agricultural agreements, which are part of the instruments for creating a free trade area between the contracting parties. Most industrial products, including fish and other seafood, will have duty-free access to the relevant markets as soon as the agreement comes into force. For ships, ships and floating structures imported into Canada, tariffs will be eliminated after a transitional period of up to 15 years. 8 For greater security, this Act provides no concrete mention or omission that affects Parliament`s right to enact legislation transposing a provision of the agreement or bilateral agreement or to comply with any of the Obligations of the Government of Canada under the bilateral agreement or agreement. There are exceptions to this agreement for certain agricultural raw materials. These exclusions are listed in Appendix F of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

As a member of the G7 and G20, Canada plays an important role in issues of interest to Switzerland, including international finance and taxation. The proof of origin required is a declaration and is designated in the CEFTA ACCORD as a declaration of origin.
This statement may be indicated on an invoice or other accompanying document describing the original product in sufficient detail to allow it to be identified. In order to apply for preferential tariff treatment under the CTA, importers must have the declaration provided by the exporter of EFTA, an exporting country.
