Cope 397 Collective Bargaining Agreement

Today, we let SGI know that we do not agree with the opening of the collective agreement and that we will not approve any of their demands. I would ask all Members to refer to the COPE 397 website (www.cope397.ca) and the COPE 397 Facebook page, on which we will provide updates. I also encourage members to update their contact information on the site so that we can, if necessary, update it by personal email and/or phone message. With over 400 members in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, COPE 342 specializes in representing non-profit jobs, staff in small and medium-sized businesses, and infrastructure project administrators. Members work as administrative, accounting, research and communication agents for various unions, councils, associations and non-profit organizations. You also work as an administrative, communications and outreach officer for the Manitoba NDP and MLAs. Your help is needed to support the union in our rallies, town hall meetings, advertising, information exchange, lobbying and any other support you can provide. As we mentioned in our last update, we received an oral notification of « Cost Containment » inside SaskTel. A meeting is scheduled for February 14 to discuss it. We have the obligation to meet with them to listen to their proposals for cost control.

We will evaluate their proposals and provide an update at this stage. We met again today with SGI to secure a follow-up meeting to the January 19 meeting regarding the current government demand that officials help reduce spending. ATU Local 583 – CBA – 1.
